L.A. Sky aka LaMorris Payne is the Band Leader, Trumpet and Soloist. 

L.A. is an accomplished instrumentalist, vocalist and member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame who has toured the globe spreading his special blend of musical talent. The roots of his musical education started at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio under the tutelage of Director Ray Eubanks.

In the 80’s and 90’s L.A. recorded professionally in Los Angeles under the labels of Warner Brothers Record and Motown. Highlights of his career include recording and touring with numerous artists including:   Stevie Wonder, Teena Marie, Rick James, Chaka Kahn and Smokey Robinson.

Now based in Columbus, Ohio, L.A. operates an entertainment company, performs live engagements and participates in many community activities. LA Sky’s Stone City Experience is currently performing the Rick James Show, keeping the funk legacy alive!

These brilliant musicians consist of original and former Stone City Band members hand picked by the King of Funk: Rick James.
